my personal feelings, and stuff you should know about the South San Francisco City Council vacancy appointment, a thread:
i've already given a personal raking to the 11 interviewed so far: https://twitter.com/Ethan_Mizzi/status/1353260465351127040?s=20 and https://twitter.com/Ethan_Mizzi/status/1352850006466695168?s=20
there was a written application that each prospective candidate filled out and if you'd like to read their answers here are the links: https://ci-ssf-ca.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=4758347&GUID=30C99CBD-ADE5-436B-B493-CB58A73EB68D https://ci-ssf-ca.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=4758696&GUID=B2CE6CA5-A7B3-4DE4-A5E6-8C8D34C1165F https://ci-ssf-ca.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=4761533&GUID=7FFBF8CA-C213-4A49-B693-66F5D4282E4F
so how its gonna work is after the 4 interviews tomorrow the 4 current members of the City Council (Mayor Mark Addiego, Vice-Mayor Mark Nagales, Councilmember Flor Nicolas, and Councilmember James Coleman) are each going to list who out of the 15 are their personal top 3...
...are, then they'll discuss and whittle each of their [unranked] top 3 into 1 or 2 people to vote on. AND on top of all this there will be (most likely) SOO MANYY public comments. and since there are 4 more interviews tomorrow I'm making this thread now since Idk if i could then
here's who I think has a genuine shot at getting it, there may be more but this is just my personal opinion in no particular order other than alphabetical
Norm Faria
Eddie Flores
Pradeep Gupta
Rob Uy
Alan Wong

Eddie Flores
Pradeep Gupta
Rob Uy
Alan Wong
As for who I want, my all time #1 top choice is SSFUSD Board of Trustees President Eddie Flores
and my second and only other choice I'd be happy with is Mayor and Councilmember emeritus Dr. Pradeep Gupta
and my second and only other choice I'd be happy with is Mayor and Councilmember emeritus Dr. Pradeep Gupta
I've met and interacted Eddie Flores a number times and I've seen his time on the Board of Trustees and I think he's the perfect pick for the Council. He'd be a new face on the Council and he'd be the only Latinx member. he's fantastic on housing and everything else I care about
I would trust Eddie with that seat because I know he'd make strides and be bold and it would fundamentally move our City Council to probably the most left and progressive (not to mention diverse) it's ever been.
as for Pradeep, he'd be fantastic. we've already seen him be great on council, and he's one of the most progressive people we've had on there in recent years. He's fantastic on almost every issue and was the only member to endorse SB827. BUT, i'd still prefer Eddie
both Pradeep and Eddie would be great, but especially after James Coleman got elected and Matsumoto and Garbarino are gone, I think it's time we get someone new. Eddie would be fantastic on there and bring a perspective that the council has been lacking for too long
aside from Eddie and Pradeep, no one else wows me enough to go out of my way to say I'd like them to get it. Uy, Wong, and Faria aren't terrible per se but they don't bring the progressive change or vision I think the City Council needs.
I'd be disappointed if it was anyone other than Eddie or Pradeep but as I've stated above, I prefer Eddie.
