1. Smarter segments of the capitalist class know that as long as capitalism exists, the contradictions inherent to capitalism will also be present, and hence anti-capitalist voices cannot be silenced. McCarthyism has proven to be ineffective, hence other tactics were developed.
2. Go to an art exhibition, for example, that deals with social justice issues. It won't be hard to find works of art that contain anti-capitalist messages. If you look at the sponsors, you'll more likely than not find organizations such as the Ford Foundation.
3. Why? Since opposition cannot be eliminated, the next best thing to do is to steer it towards directions that don't hurt the interests of the bourgeoisie (individual segments might suffer, but that's the cost of survival).
4. Instead of waiting for the masses to detonate a movement, it's better for the monopoly capitalists to oversee a controlled demolition. You capture the energy of angry youth who want to rebel, and channel that energy away from the masses and towards controlled environments
5. Decoupled from the working masses, these petty bourgeois intellectuals become useless for revolution, and even useful for empire in some cases. That's how you have leftists supporting color revolutions abroad while they rightfully decry racial injustices at home.
6. This is how you have imperialist shills like @BadChinaTake calling himself a "leftist" while agreeing with the US' foreign policy, though people like him might pay lip service to anti-imperialism from time to time.
7. Regardless, notice how those who challenge US hegemony are almost always considered to be "just as bad" by people like BadChinaTake or Brian Hioe. It's okay to be anti-US, so long as you're devoid of revolutionary optimism and drown in a sea of nihilism and pessimism.
8. This arrangement was created by the State Department with the guidance of certain segments of the big bourgeoisie explicitly to render leftists in the imperial core useless.
9. Individual actors like Brian may not be directly paid by the State, but their pseudo-left ideology that serves to defend the interests of empire was in fact a creation of the State Department. Don't believe me? Look up the history of the Congress of Cultural Freedom.
10. This is why it's pertinent to attack and expose pseudo-leftist trends for what they are. You can call for the destruction of the existing order all you want, but until you can build something that can fill the power void left behind, you're powerless.
