I can never seem to make #MuseumHour "live" but have really enjoyed scrolling back through the discussion of play in museums. A few thoughts, it was interesting to me that the idea of play immediately went to children. Curious to hear what your definition of play mean?
It is also so important to remember that there are many ways to play. My older child is a watcher and a quiet do-er. My youngest is busy and loud. They look different in spaces but both are valid #museumhour
I definitely agree with @magmidd that there is still so much implicit bias about what play is accepted in spaces. The way we expect children to engage and interact and respond is often geared towards what white people think is "right" #museumhour
I also feel like I can't stress enough but if you are wanting to be a more playful space you HAVE to get everyone on board. You can't send mixed messages between the literature, front line, programs, security etc. etc. #MuseumHour
I'm sure I'll sit bolt upright in bed with many more thoughts. Young children + museums is my happy place #MuseumHour
