Hey, there 👋🏾

My name is SJ - that’s ✌🏾letters.

I LOVE #3Dprinting and my machines of choice are big metal additive machines that fall into the category of printing called DMLS - direct metal laser sintering.
You’re probably wondering - SJ what do you print with big metal machines? 🤔

The most generic answer engineers tell you is “engine and propulsion components” - but that can be a lot of things! See below for some examples.
Metal additive prints a lot of
- heat exchangers ➡️ make fluids go brrr
- rocket nozzles ➡️ big boom boom cups
- impellers & inducers ➡️ pump up the pressure and control the thrust in an engine
- volutes ➡️ converts exhaust into boom boom energy

& a whole lot of other stuff🤣
Using metal printing, we can design crazy funky channels into the walls or bodies of parts. We can take fan blades down to super low angles and increase efficiency. We can combine multiple parts into one to reduce welding points, reduce assembly time, and bring down part cost.
It’s INSANE what the industry is accomplishing & the new horizons that are coming for us!

But what is it really like behind closed doors? What does it take to get a job and KEEP a job in metal additive? Is it hard? What skills should you practice? How do you know if it’s for you?
I’m giving a talk at the 1st TIPE #3DPrinting conference hosted by @Wi3DP this coming Thursday at 12pm EST! Registration is free & I hope to see you there! I plan to answer all of these questions and more in my presentation called “SJ’s Declassified Metal Survival Guide” 😎
P. S. Guess who was the brilliant artist & genius behind all of my PowerPoint designs?

... figure it out yet? 🤨

Yes, that’s right... 🥁🥁🥁... 3D Printing’s one & only @BillieRubenMake made these stellar graphics 😉

🗣 Check it out & show her some ❤️ in the comments❕
Who all gon’ be there?
