1/ LSCAB mtg more of the same. Everything is fine, everything is safe, we’ve given schools everything they need to do this safely. Very little mention of the vast majority of kids staying remote, just to say that reduction in min follows @ISBEnews minimal guidelines

2/ Dr. Fox opens up by saying that keeping schls closed is going to cause multigenerational, irreversible harm to stdts... no mention of how this harm will be mitigated for 81% who are still learning remotely... so I guess 81% of disproportionately vulnerable kids are screwed?

3/ Chief of teaching & learning Dr. Chavarría says they expect tchrs to not only simultaneous teach, but do small groups w/ in person & remote kids (to keep them connected) & ALSO dedicated small group time for remote & in person students. Your brain exploding yet?

4/ Several Sp speakers point out this mtg is in Eng only & neither Dr. Fox’s nor Dr. Chavarría’s presentations decks are available in Sp to at least allow Sp speakers to follow along. To her credit, Chavarría says she commits to doing this same pres in Sp only this week.

5/ One parent says they don’t understand why tchrs are against schl opening, bc it seems like everything is in place, wants more reopening voices heads. Another parent points to historic lack of trust in CPS. Chavarría concedes trust is v. important & CPS needs to work on that

6/ Many schls had vacancies before this & are struggling to fill cadre sub/misc positions this plan hinges on. What’s the plan for schls that don’t have the staff to pull this off? To assure stdts are taught by qualified tchrs? Are all these chiefs heading back to the classroom?!

7/ We aren’t all Coonleys & Burleys. CPS needs to communicate the plan for the “worst case scenario” that, for some schls, was just the every day reality even before COVID. #CPSTalkToUs
