It's safe to say our deer pop. Is as healthy as ever. I have nearly 100 video clips of deer crossing the ditch under the fence. I'd say there are at least 15 separate deer (best guess) using this crossing on 1-19-21 & 1-20-21 alone. I won't share them all but here are some:
This one leads the way under the fence. What do you think, doe or button buck? I need to reposition this camera for better perspective but there's not a lot of mounting options here. I'll have to get creative.
This is the next frame. Here you get a better idea of where they're coming from. These two deer are on opposite sides of the fence. BTW, this is the same crossing that the coyotes use in the videos I've previously posted.
Jumping ahead a bit now, this is the third & fourth deer in this group taking their turns crossing under the fence. The Infrared lighting the camera uses makes them a bit skittish.
Deer # 5 & 6 decide to cross on the other side of the fence. They're using an old gas line easement to navigate across properties quickly.
The next night, 1-20-21. There are 2 deer here on opposite sides of the fence. Both facing North.
A group of 5 or 6 including at least one small buck mill about here for awhile drinking from the ditch and annoying each other. This is where a camera that records for longer durations would be nice.
Siblings will be siblings. They'll fuss at each other like we do.
It's starting to get crowded down there..
This part of the ditch hasn't frozen over yet so they're all taking turns drinking. Something out of shot keeps grabbing their attention as well.
I'm not sure what they're hearing but I have an idea.
Now it's behind them... hmm. They're looking towards our house here but they're nearly 3 acres away.
Face front, ears back and tails slowly raising. They're not certain, but somethings not right.
The last clip shows a hasty retreat with tails raised. Right after a yearling bounds over the water from off camera, a low, fast moving set of eyes gives chase but the camera stops recording before they can be identified. Another small deer? A coyote? An angry squirrel?..
