Beyoncé disrespecting Egyptians and our culture (a thread)
Beyoncé used the Egyptian song “Enta Omri” during two tours. The song was used for her to sexually dance to. She sexualized a popular clean song with lyrics & then twerked to it. If she did this in Egypt she could’ve gotten in huge trouble. It’s disrespectful to us & our culture
While Beyoncé was visiting Egypt, she stopped by the Pyramids where she got banned from for her “stupid” and “rude” behavior.

Beyoncé’s Coachella performance was heavily influenced by ancient Egypt and she used Tutankhamen & Nefertiti (Egyptian leaders) as icons. After Egyptian & Arab backlash, she put her Nefertiti pictures on merchandise & profited off Egyptian culture.

I do stan Bey but at the same time I see these things from my culture that it seems like she’s trying to pass as her own, like selling herself as Nefertiti and “I’ll never let you shoot the nose off my Pharaoh” promoting the myth that Africa is a monolithic continent.
