Being a PhD student @Stockholm_Uni is ONE SWEET DEAL. Here is why you should come join us! 1/ https://twitter.com/SU_Economics/status/1353627232955203585
1. The economics community in Stockholm is incredible: between @SU_Economics, @IIES_Sthlm, @SOFI_su_se, @handels_sse, @IFN_Stockholm, and @EconomicsUU, the density of great faculty and students is unlike most places I know. And people like each other & collaborate a lot!
2. Generous salary/stipend. The pre-tax equivalent is about $39k/year.

Pension benefits!

Free healthcare!

Parental leave: at least 1 year at 90% salary!

Yes, for PhD students!
3. No teaching requirement! Many people teach anyway because they enjoy it. But if you just want to do research, go for it.
Also, no RAship requirement! By all means, collaborate with faculty, but then you're a coauthor.
4. You get an office for your entire PhD. Here's the view!
4. You get $3,000 of research money every year. For larger projects, there are lots of grant opportunities in Sweden, and the success probabilities are high, even for PhD students.
5. Most students spend up to a year abroad, often in the US. They frequently come back with new collaborators. These stays are generously funded.
6. Most importantly, it's a friendly, close-knit community. Students and profs have lunch together. Here's one of several places, 5min and a few horses behind the department.

This is also the field where the admin staff make you exercise once a week. It's optional, they claim.
7. Here's the party when you finish your PhD! Bad singing from all your colleagues and professors is included.

Come join us! Any questions, email me!
