One way to think about much of what's going on in the world—from /wsb, to populism, to Q—is the collapsing cost of coordination & organization over distance & time. People are able to find, reinforce, and scale faster than countervailing forces act, which opens strange doors.
These are all just rattles in broken, complex systems, of course. TIght coupling, complexity, and collapsing coordination costs end-run old strictures, not to mention old rules. The result is what Perrow called "normal accidents": predictable failures in complex systems.
Unfortunately, most warning systems do not warn us that they can no longer warn us.
