THREAD: I decided last year to step back from my "hobby" of keeping an eye on JCPS. My daughter had graduated and honesty, I realized that I was becoming a jerk, spinning down conspiracy rabbit holes, and looking for evil at every turn. /1
My decision was to try to limit my criticism and instead to amplify the voices of the people who truly are making a difference in the community. That and to stop using education as an outlet for my rage at so many things. /2
The scorched earth approach has become tiring for me. So has anger. I realized that I was an annoyance to people who didn't deserve it. All this was my choice based on personal observation and a desire to change. /3
I do not apologize for stepping back. I also do not apologize for amplifying messages just because people tell me I need to. We may agree on some things in JCPS but that doesn't mean I have to embrace everything you do. /4.
I will continue to support public education and will occasionally scratch an angry itch depending on what happens there. But we all need to focus on the voices of the parents, students, and teachers currently in JCPS. /5
