So when we gonna talk about the fact that the majority of Black families either didn’t respond to the survey or opted to return? Why are folks defaulting to the CPS policy of non-response means opt to learn at home versus questioning why so many Black families did not respond?
Our educational system has so much entrenched anti-Blackness and CPS has created so much trauma for Black families. Black families had the highest non-response rate and have disappeared completely from the system at the highest rate. What supports are we creating to fix this?
We don’t actually know what the majority of Black families need (despite all of the rhetoric about the majority of Black and Brown families opting to stay remote). If our solutions continue to not actively center the non-responders and the missing families, they aren’t equitable.
