This has definitely been a due diligence experience. Expensive one for sure. Made my first @loupetheapp purchase Nov-11 (launched Oct-23). Since then "diligence" has transformed my view of the entire collectibles category. And my mail carrier (and wife) are now slightly annoyed!
The surging interest in digital and physical sports collectibles, live video content and new commerce platforms make Loupe a special opportunity. I talk a lot about and have invested against such marketplace opportunities: fragmentation, passionate community and product scarcity.
Loupe is fun and now virtual hang. Spending a few hours each week w/ likes of @chest and @rje7, while also seeing other investors pop their heads into breaks has been amusing! This recent clip of my boys @freshpullz ripping a @tua is classic (20-sec mark).
Don't laugh off the potential here. Some questioned buying event tickets online @StubHub. Thought a sneaker marketplace was a small idea @goatapp. Wondered if a one-stop thrifting destination was needed @thredUP. And doubted fractional ownership of collectible assets @OnRallyRd.
We're going thru commerce disruption like never before. This was occurring well before COVID-19 changed our world and has now accelerated. What seems to start-off as localized and niche can become global and scaled. I can't wait for this @LoupeTheApp chapter and the next ones.
