Montana's state legislature just passed a law CRIMINALIZING healthcare for trans kids. Many states under GOP control are considering similar bills. These are meant to stop trans people from being able to live normal lives in a transphobic society, and they will get people killed.
Montana's state legislature ALSO just passed a bill preventing trans people from competing in sports. They're saying loud and clear that trans people are not welcome in their state.
It's no accident that the attacks on trans people are coming on two fronts: preventing us from transitioning before puberty, and then using the traits that develop during that forced puberty to exclude us from sports, bathrooms, and public life more broadly.
Trans people are under attack, and executive orders are not enough to stop it; Joe Biden and the Democratic congress must pass sweeping anti-discrimination legislation that clarifies that gender identity is not grounds for denying access to healthcare or anything else.
I should clarify that I used one wrong word here: these odious bills have passed one house of the Montana legislature; there is still time to stop them before they become law.
