How come Democratic politicians demanded Parler be removed from the internet but didn’t demand that of Facebook, given that all evidence now demonstrates (as was clear from the start) that the Capitol protest was planned far more on FB & YouTube than Parler? https://twitter.com/rmac18/status/1353813718249824258
Maybe the desire to destroy Parler was more about preventing any competition to Silicon Valley monopolies and silencing any platform associated with right-wing views, & the bullshit about how the platform was where the Capitol riot was planned was just the authoritarian pretext?
It’s still astonishing that Democratic politicians demanded that Silicon Valley monopolies remove an entire social media platform from the internet. Those monopolies — having poured enormous amounts into Dem coffers and now subject to their rule — then obeyed. No more Parler.
Let’s review the last 3 months:
1) FB & Twitter united to block reporting about the Bidens before the election;
2) All platforms removed Trump.
3) Dems got SV monopolies to remove Parler from the internet.
And Dems, with the Cheney wing, are just getting started.

To celebrate our victory over fascism, we’re now going to use monopoly and corporate power to silence all those who disagree with us by destroying their communications platforms by force. https://www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/msnbcs-joe-scarborough-sends-message-fox-news-sponsors-about-networks-continued
I’ll be on with @TuckerCarlson tonight at 8 pm ET, top of the hour, to discuss these grave authoritarian dangers posed by this alliance of Liz-Cheney-led Republicans and establishment Dems, thirsty for a New War on Terror and this accompanying orgy of censorship and surveillance.
For those asking which Democrats called on Silicon Valley monopolies to remove Parler, start here: some pretty influential and significant ones (I had a long, respectful debate with Ro Khanna about it that day on this site, but his position is clear):
Really good @tabletmag on the bizarre and twisted dynamic that it is **journalists** who are the leading advocates and activists for censorship. It names names, with ample links and quotes: https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/jounalists-against-free-speech
