So many people choosing to celebrate Australia’s rich multiculturalism today.

But this continent has always been multicultural and multilingual, for tens of thousands of years, with more First Nations and languages than modern Europe.

Therefore ...
... it feels bizarre at best, and perverse at worst, to celebrate the beginning of systematic and brutal attempts to annihilate those cultures and languages.

Can you think of any other modern sophisticated nation that would do that?
Respectfully protesting today on Gadigal land in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. And alongside—and in acknowledgement of—elders past and present.

Big props to organisers for the effort and time. Free sunscreen, masks, water and QR check-ins no less.
