1/ It's hopeless, a thread.
2/ In the city of Toronto’s COVID19 update today, @epdevilla confirmed all first-round vaccines have been delivered at *ALL 87* of the city’s long-term care facilities and high-risk retirement homes.
3/ That’s great news !!
54.6% of Toronto’s fatalities occurred in these at risk groups…
…and excluding the high-risk LTC population…
…Toronto’s case fatality rate is 0.68%
…and just * 0.21% * in the under 69 population !
(see graph next tweet)

5/ But they are not opening the city !
6/ …in fact, even while (as we speak) we vaccinate the pandemic epicentre of LTCs and retirement homes, @epdevilla contends today that current practices need to remain in place until a sufficient portion of the population is vaccinated…
7/ …this makes no sense !
1. It is well documented that while anyone can be a PCR positive “case”, community mortality risk is manageable and in-line with other annual pathogens!
2. We know the epicenter and we have the vaccines for them!

8/ …that our city (and provincial) politicians, officers and health officials *will not open the city* in light of what I outline above…means we are not even close to a light at the end of the tunnel !
