Dropping a lot of followers today - assumably about sharing stuff about toxic work environments - and you should know that I have been continuously told I am loud, and disagreeable, because I don’t take abuse and underhanded work environments lightly.
I understand if it upsets you - it upsets me deeply. But we have to do work towards proving how wrong these people and these working environments are. We cannot keep letting this happen.
It is exhausting working in a city where you have to consult 5 different people about a new colleague before you can even decide they’re okay, because the amount of abuse that goes on in the Montreal game dev scene is absolutely absurd.
Whisper networks work, but they don’t prevent. And often, when people do speak out, people turn against them. I have watched it happen in real time, towards me, towards people I know.
We need to do better to not let these abusive assholes ruin our industry and ruin the work that so many people try to make, only for it to be tainted by corrupt, disgusting individuals.
