Republicans do not want to work with Democrats to solve the crises we face.

The single most important canon of Republican dogma is the conviction that government cannot help people, and should never be allowed to do so if it could.

1/7
There are two reasons Republicans don't want government to work:

1) They can't make a profit from public services. They want to privatize everything.

2) They want to hurt the people they don't like (this is what they mean by "liberty"), and laws stop them from doing that.

2/7
If government is allowed to help people, then people will stop thinking government is the enemy. This will make it harder for Republicans to grift and to crime with impunity.

Now remember, in America, We the People =are= the government. We are supposed to govern Ourselves.

3/7
"We the People" are even the first three words of the Constitution.

Putting the Constitution into a single sentence, "We the People chose to govern Ourselves, and here are the rules for doing that."

That's the essence of any democratic republic.

4/7
So when Republicans tell you the government is the enemy, Republicans are telling you to hate yourself.

They're telling you that YOU are the enemy.

They've very upfront about it.

When they tell you they want "small government," they're telling you to disempower yourself.

5/7
When Republicans say government is the enemy,

(pay close attention here)

they are declaring war on YOU.

You personally.

Because they want to take everything you own, take all your rights and freedoms, and leave you desperate, impoverished, diseased, and powerless.

6/7
Republicans do not want to work with Democrats to solve the crises we face.

Because that would mean government works.

It would mean you can govern yourself.

Republicans do not want to join with you to govern. They don't want to govern.

They want to rule.
