A mid-sized rant on conspiracy theories and Big Tech censorship: Big Tech's desire to root out "false information" has nothing to do with the quest for truth and everything to do with changing the rules when you realize you can't win the game.
Leftism dominates media, education, big business, entertainment, almost every aspect of modern life. But it can't win a total victory in the marketplace of ideas.

That's why leftism is now going full force towards censoring/punishing conservative voices.
It's the same thing as a 5'4" schlub saying that we need to ban 6'4" athletes from dating websites to combat toxic masculinity. He doesn't care about toxic anything. He's just trying to drive away the competition he can't otherwise defeat.
Leftists may convince themselves that they're trying to protect people from lies and falsehood, but that's not really the motivation. Which is made clear when they won't distinguish between, say, "Venezuela elected Biden" and "weird stuff happened on election night."
(This winter, come see "every piece of information I don't like is a conspiracy theory." From the people who brought you "everyone I don't like is Literally Hitler.")
And if you're someone like me who laments conservatives getting brain rot pursuing every insane prior-confirming conspiracy theory that Big Tech is censoring, it's important to remember that Big Tech's war against "falsehood" will only make that problem worse.
Humans are simple. They want to play with fire and whatever you say is too hot to touch becomes appealing to them. I guarantee you that belief in Bigfoot would jump 3000% if Twitter started deleting accounts that posted this video:
People believe stupid conspiracy theories about the election because they're angry. Once the anger subsides, many will walk away from that stuff willingly. But the more that Big Tech tries to force them away from it, the more they'll tattoo it onto their brains.
In the 80s, everyone believed that daycare centers were havens of demon worshipping pedophiles. Then after a couple years, they stopped believing that. If Twitter had existed at the time and kicked people off for posting about it, people would still believe it now.
If leftists were wise, they would realize this and just let the conspiracy theories run their course and die in a couple of years. But that would require leftists to employ the art of persuasion. And, as we've already noted, they know they can't persuade everyone.
So they go to their default tactic: Power. Build a narrative, then silence, ban, censor, and threaten anyone who doesn't embrace it. But the result of this will always be many conservatives believing anything you say not to believe precisely because you said not to believe it.
I tried to think of a positive way to end this thread, but I couldn't really do it. Things are probably going to get much worse and far stupider. But Jesus will return one day and bring His sheep into His kingdom forever, so that is very good. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
