👋🏾 a lot of new people here. So here's a few things to know about us: (y'all know we love threads)
We love Black people more than we hate white supremacy.
When we started organizing under this name in 2015, it was because received death threats as individuals. Tacoma didn't have a big protest scene, and it was hella easy for people to make us targets. As Black women, we needed to protest ourselves.
We love to see others organizing in Tacoma. You don't need our permission, we don't own shit. Figure out your lane and go.
At the same time, we understand that we've built a lot of trust in the community, and people will look to us for direction. So we have to make it clear what we are and aren't involved in. (Telling people to go at their own risk is not shade btw 🤣)
We've protested and organized in plenty of other cities. But we don't go and belittle or tell people what they should and shouldn't be doing. So don't do that with us. (THAT was shade 🤷🏾‍♀️).
When we say people over property we mean people over property, PERIODT. We are more concerned with this violent system than a window or spray paint. (We actually love spray paint 😅🙃).
Love and solidarity to all the organizers in Tacoma. We see you. Protect yourselves and take care of yourselves - we need you here with us to fight ✊🏾❤️
And while you're here, don't forget those whose lives have been stolen #DanielCovaribbias #Justice4Jackie #CharleenaLyles #BennieBranch #SaidJoquin #ManuelEllis
And Black girls like #MoniqueTillman who is still alive but will carry that trauma with her forever.
