Thread: I did a lot of work with LGBT youth when I was young, as director of my college LGBT student org and as program director for the MA Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth. Queer youth are pretty savvy; they don't need a lot of hand-holding and happy talk. 1/3
2/3 If Catholic bishops want to do something about bullying and harassment, they can start by directing their words and actions at the potential bullies in their midst. Hire LGBT religious educators to design an anti-bullying curriculum for schools, seminaries, and catechists.
3/3 LGBT youth already know bullying is evil and that God loves them. Bullies and homophobes need to hear from everyone in the church that their behavior will not be tolerated, that it is sinful, and that they are the ones in need of repentance.
