Celtic & Brexit - A work permit nightmare

With Brexit changing work permit rules for Celtic. Players such as Ajer, Hatem, Barkas and Soro would no longer be able to transfer to Celtic.

What has changed and how does it affect Celtic?

Players if they want to transfer to Celtic will need an auto pass or the player will need to accumulate 15 points across the following tables that will be shown in this thread.

1st up its easy enough to sign players in the top 50 national teams. Hatem & Barkas are 51+

Playing in continental competitions gathers points as well. Champions league band 1 and Europa league band 2. As we can see band 2 where Celtic would more commonly go for transfers gets very limited points. Remember 15 needed overall for the work permit.
(4/12)
Points can also be acquired from moving further into the 3 European competitions . Celtic would rarely buy from teams at this level. But it could help add points to those who are in lower band leagues doing well in europe.

I am unsure how these bands have been decided as coefficient doesn't appear involved. We can see leagues we purchase from are in low bands so wont gain as many work permit points. Israel in band 6 in reality means Celtic cant sign from there. Bands 4/5 could be similar

We can see how these bands affect point intake. Players from bands 4/5 are unlikely able to get the 15 points needed to transfer to Celtic. Band 4 could be similar. The transfer market Celtic operate in just shrank dramatically.
(7/12)
Points are also gained for good league performances but again like before the work permit points from leagues Celtic are more active in scouting get very little points.
(8/12)
Finally base points the SPFL are generously in band 3 so Celtic players should have no issues getting work permits moving abroad. However we can see very low points for markets that have been good to Celtic. No more players like Ajer.

Finally I am aware that there rules for young players with not enough points but have exceptional talent ( proven by regularly starting youth internationals for example). Edouard would likely fall into this category.

For Celtic Brexit will be a stinging blow. Reducing their options in the future for transfers. It will force the club to look inwards to the academy and further attempts to find hidden gems to be developed from England.

Celtic may become less competitive in Europe as clubs in the EU take advantage of a less populated market. I hope our board has been planning for this as it'll hit hard. But with the board and club in disarray, its hard to imagine this has been planned for.
