He lived in France for a number of years, though dirt poor, & had to depend on the kindness of the French, & বিদ্যাসাগর to survive.

Oh and apparently Michael Madhusudan Dutta was asked to teach Bengali at University College London, but without a salary lol. Academics, I tell you (and also colonialism?)!
