It's this strange man's birthday. I say strange because such an Anglophile I doubt ever existed even back in the day, and yet his œuvre in Bengali is formidable.

I really like the poem he composed for his grave - দাঁড়াও পথিক-বর! জন্ম যদি তব বঙ্গে! তিষ্ট ক্ষণকাল!
He lived in France for a number of years, though dirt poor, & had to depend on the kindness of the French, & বিদ্যাসাগর to survive.

Also, formidable linguistic skills!

Oh and apparently Michael Madhusudan Dutta was asked to teach Bengali at University College London, but without a salary lol. Academics, I tell you (and also colonialism?)!
