With all the debate surrounding how COVID19 does/doesn't spread in schools, it's a good time to point out that these debates are about the details in/of scientific knowledge, and that is fundamentally the most important aspect of science #covid19bc #STEMed (1/5)
Think big picture here. No reputable members of the scientific community are arguing over whether COVID19 exists or not. Or, whether vaccines are effective or not. Rather, the debate is nuanced, specific, and reflective of place-based contexts (2/5)
Why point this out, despite it seeming obvious? Because for some folks, it isn't. Still lots of people who think COVID isn't real, and/or that vaccines are ineffective. Imagine what these folks would have said when cell theory was first proposed! YIKES! (3/5)
Connecting with + educating those who refuse to believe in even the most unanimously agreed upon science is our greatest challenge. Those who actively ignore scientific evidence are our single greatest threat - not the scientists working tirelessly to understand COVID (4/5)
A reminder that scientists are still science-ing! Let them examine + analyze + debate the heck outta this pandemic! And sure, feel free to participate in critique - but cancel your ad hominem attacks on scientists. There are graver concerns lurking for us to be wary of (5/5).
