Pregnancy is a medical condition that pretty much forces the pregnant person to be around other people, often in a medical or hospital setting.
We're currently in a deadly pandemic with no hospital beds open.

Moreover, pregnancy is hugely expensive in terms of money as well as physical and emotional bandwidth. It ideally occurs during a period of financial and employment stability.
Guess what this pandemic has greatly impacted? ALL OF THE ABOVE.

Just off the top of my head, the questions I'd be facing if I were considering pregnancy right now would be:
- will my job fire me?
- can we afford a baby when food prices have gone up so much and supply chain hiccups are affecting us?
- how will prenatal doctor visits work?

- how will doctor visits go AFTER the birth?
- can babies be vaccinated?
- does the vaccine even work on babies?
- will we have to do preschool via Zoom?
- how will postnatal depression interact with pandemic depression?

...and, like, that's just off the top of my head. But sure, gee, wow, we had to cancel Tuesday Game Night with the friends, so why hasn't that materialized into more fucking and therefore more pregnancy.
