As a former public school teacher, I remember feeling on Teacher Appreciation Day that these celebrations were hollow.
What I needed as a teacher was better pay, policies that supported my students, and working conditions that preserved my mental health. 2/

It’s hard to compare the CMRG role at a startup to teaching public school.
In my startup jobs, I've had stuff like kombucha and cold brew on tap. As a public school teacher, I once sat down on a toilet seat where the water inside was literally boiling (). 3/

But, I think the idea of going beyond appreciation days to real actions holds true across professions.
