A high school diploma may be an achievement to some, but so is becoming a parent in your teens. Or joining the military at 17. Or having to leave home and start working before you're ready to, because of abuse or poverty, for example.
A high school diploma is not an award in morality, either. No one is a "better person" for having it. In fact, I can think of plenty of terrible human beings who graduated high school.
