I know there are people who roll their eyes at this, and as someone who is anti-war/anti-droning/etc. and would never in a million years choose to join the military, I get it.

But, there's a simple reason that this is still a good thing: 1/ https://twitter.com/chrisjohnson82/status/1353460848921096192
Having any part of the federal government single out a marginalized group for exclusion creates opportunities for *the entire* federal government to do that.
In fact, keeping trans people banned is one of the 5 items on the right-wing Family Research Council's anti-trans wish list. https://downloads.frc.org/EF/EF15F45.pdf  Their goal is to create a framework to build on to essentially strip trans people of all rights, and this is a key component 3/
Again, I wouldn't join the military for a great number of reasons. But reversing Trump's slapdash anti-trans policy is a good move here as it's bad to have trans people singled out for discrimination as a federal policy. 4/
And finally, while this is good and all, the administration needs to do more than just EOs because what's going to happen is frustratingly obvious: the GOP will implement anti-trans policies, Dems will roll them back, rinse, repeat. 5/
Gotta codify this stuff into law rather than relying on EOs that can be reversed or easily invalidated at SCOTUS. That's all. 6/6
