So Frank has been sacked - A Small Thread. Lots of angles but his signings will be a key focus. Looking at Werner, people argued he should be played as a CF but working within the Bundesliga and looking at his heat maps, it's obvious he played mostly from the left at Leipzig.
His outputs in the Bundesliga were also poor. The system they played with a focal CF, lots of internal rotation, counter-punch style and no advanced FB on his side created space for him to exploit BUT he still missed a huge volume of chances esp. 1 on 1's. So why so expensive?
1 - Age, 2 - Speed (we link this with opportunity and potential) 3 - Nationality (Surely someone in the German national team must be good) 4 - Output - 5 - Nagel - Playing for a young, flamboyant coach created a buzz around Leipzig players. So what next for him, Havertz et al?
If Chelsea want to dominate possession with wingers/full-back advanced, I dont see it. If they want to play a focal CF (Giroud), late arriving midfielders who are allowed to break lines (inc. Havertz) and play with more tempo in transition then maybe, just maybe it will work.
