I have friends ask me sometimes ‘when do you find time for [ insert creative project here ] ?’.
I take it probably over sensitively as an accusation. As in I couldn’t possibly work full time & be a good parent & husband & make things, I must be dropping the ball somewhere.

The answer is two things.
1) I don’t have time. I’ll write a lyric & a verse and sit on it for....years sometimes. Other times it comes all at once. I record WITH my kids distracting me, I’ll teach them about what I’m doing. I sing ideas into my phone on the way to work.

I shoot film clip footage on my iPhone, I quickly do production tutorials in my lunch break, scribble new song lyrics while sketching with my kids, I’ll practice songs then they make me listen to their song ideas.
I can take months to finish all the bits and bobs that go into an album the realise I need double that time again as other things in life take priority. I delete & remake stuff, merge ideas occasionally something beautiful seems to make itself while I float along for the ride.
2) Secondly I make a decision to not just consume...but create. people ask me how can I possibly have time to be creative I ask them how many books have they read recently ? What Netflix shows are they into ? What bands do the like listening to ? Podcasts? Oh you love Cricket ?
Yes this is a ‘gotcha’ moment but I also consume books and Netflix, but some nights if I even get the chance - I’ll spend 20min playing piano or guitar and little ideas build upon others. I am also lucky to have that time I know some people REALLY don’t have the time or energy
Also I create as my self expression and I NEED to do it. It is hardly effort in that sense, it comes naturally and is a need. I find time, if I can, when I can, and make stuff.
