Xi Jinping at Davos says the world will not go back to the way it was in the past (pre-pandemic).

He calls for stepping up for joint macro-economic cooperation and inclusive growth of world economy.

Xi: 'each country is unique with its own history, culture .... none is superior to each other.'

He says difference is no cause for alarm while arrogance, prejudice and hatred is.

Xi: 'the international community should keep its eyes on the long run, honour its commitment and provide necessary support to developing countries.'

Xi: 'the earth is our one and only home. To scale up efforts to address climate change...bears on the future of humanity. No global problem can be solved by any one country alone. There must be global action, global co-oeration and global action.'

Xi says the way out of the 'intricate' problems facing the world is through upholding multilateralism.

Multilateralism is about having international affairs addressed through consultations and the future of the world addressed by everyone working together.

Xi says decoupling, sanctions and supply disruption will 'only push the world into division and even confrontation.'

Xi: 'We should build an open world economy.'

He calls for taking down barriers to trade and technological exchanges.

Xi: we need to be resolute about upholding the international rule of law. He says this should be through the UN.

State to state relations should be coordinated and regulated through 'proper institutions.'

Xi: 'The strong should not bully the weak, decisions should not be made by simply showing off strong muscles or waving a big fist.'

Xi: says history shows that antagonism through cold war, hot war or trade war undermines everyone's well-being.

He says outdated Cold War/zero-sum game mentality should be rejected.

Xi says China is forming a new, domestic-focussed 'development paradigm.' It will work with other countries to form an 'open, clean and beautiful' world.

Xi: China has provided assistance to 150 countries + 13 international organisations and sent 36 medical expert teams to 36 countries.

Xi says it serves no-ones interest to use the pandemic as an excuse to reverse globalisation and go for decoupling.

He claims China will continue to open up economically to the rest of the world.

Xi: China wants carbon neutrality before 2060. We believe when the interests of entire humanity are at stake, China must step forward, take action and get the job done.

Xi says China follows an independent foreign policy of peace and is working hard to resolve differences through dialogue and resolve disputes through negotiation.
