The top 10 worst trades in LA Clippers history, a thread:
Honorable mention: Paul George for the Clippers' entire future.

It will be one of the worst trades in NBA history, but we can't fully analyze it as most of the assets haven't materialized yet.
10. The Clips traded two second rounders (one they got from the Lakers) to the Pistons for Ricky Pierce, a very good scorer a future All-Star.

The Pistons then traded that pick to Phoenix which they used to select Jeff Hornacek, a much more efficient shooter and better defender.
9. In 2014, the Clips traded Jared Dudley and a 2017 1st round pick to the Bucks for Carlos Delfino, Miroslav Raduljica, and a 2016 2nd rounder (Marcus Paige), all who wouldn't play a minute in a Clippers jersey.

The Bucks traded the pick to Toronto in another bad trade, - 1/2
- and the Raptors would use it to select OG Anunoby, who is starting to develop into one of the league's best young two-way players. 2/2
8. The Clippers trade a 1986 1st round pick to the Cavaliers for a Joe Bryant who was looking like he was entering his prime. His prime stats were... look them yourselves. The Clippers went 32-50 and missed the playoff in 1986, meaning the pick was a lottery pick. 1/2
As standard Clipper luck would have it, the pick won the lottery and was used to select Brad Daugherty. He became a five time All-Star.

Other players on the board were Arvydas Sabonis, Mark Price, Dennis Rodman, Jeff Hornacek, and Drazen Petrovic. 2/2
7. LA decided to dump Baron Davis' cap anchor (along with a 2011 1st rounder) to the Cavs for Jamario Moon and Mo Williams. Both Jamario and Mo would be gone by the offseason meaning the Clips would suck a lot. The pick won the lottery and the Cavs used it to pick Kyrie Irving.
6. In 1977, the Buffalo Braves traded away a the third overall pick to the Bucks for Swen Nater and the 13th overall pick (traded later for the 24th pick (Larry Johnson) before the draft. Swen Nater was an okay player and Larry only played one season in the league. 1/2
The Braves traded down a lot for no reason at all. The Bucks used that pick to select Marques Johnson, one of the best wings of that era. 2/2
5. In 1984, the Clips traded Terry Cummings, Craig Hodges, and Ricky Pierce for Junior Bridgeman, Marques Johnson (he's back!) and Harvey Catchings. If all six were in their prime, this would be a passable trade, but all the assets the Clippers traded were very young and the- 1/2
- ones they got back were declining and left within in two years. Cummings and Pierce enjoyed a long stretch of excellent basketball in Milwaukee while Craig happily won two rings as a role player on the Bulls with Michael Jordan. 2/2
4. This trade was baffling, even at the time.

The Braves decided to trade a prime Bob McAdoo (and someone named Tom McMillen) to the Knicks for John Ginaelli (and cash).

Do I even need an explanation here?
3. After an amazing rookie season, Adrian Dantley was traded, along with Mike Bantom, to the Pacers for All-Star Billy Knight. Knight was traded next season for pennies of the dollar.

As for Dantley? He developed into an All-NBA player, All-Star, and two time scoring champ.
2. The Clippers traded a 1984 1st round pick for Sixers rising star World B. Free. After he averaged 30 points, they traded him to Golden State for a declining Phil Smith and a 1984 1st round pick.

In the NBA draft, the pick they got was #8; the pick they traded away was #5. 1/2
At number 8, LA selects Lancaster Gordon, a bust.

At number 5, Philadelphia selects Charles Barkley, a future MVP.
1. A center that played for the Spirits of the St. Louis was traded to the Braves by the Blazers. After he played a total of 3 minutes, he was traded to the Rockets for two first round picks, who were traded once again for a Tiny Archibald (who didn't play due to a torn- 1/2
-Achilles) and a journeyman named George Johnson.

In those three minutes that center played, he grabbed one rebound. This is what he would be known for his entire career.

His name? Moses Malone.
