My top 20 favorite songs: a thread.
These are just the songs I enjoy the most, I don't personally want to rank based on quality. Ly all 💙💙
20. Accordion - Madvillain / MF DOOM and Madlib
19. Long Time - Intro - Playboi Carti
18. New Slaves - Kanye West
17. Save Your Tears - The Weeknd
16. Swimming Pools (Drank) - Kendrick Lamar
15. Everything I Am - Kanye West
14. m.A.A.d City - Kendrick Lamar
13. Marvins Room - Drake
12. The Games We Play - Pusha T
11. SKELETONS - Travis Scott
10. Feel The Love
My 2nd favorite album opener, just a song that radiates energy for me. It's amazing Kanye uses no lyrics yet delivers an amazing verse, how Cudi is able to give off such a feel with just 6 words, and how Push gave such a amazing feature with only hours to write.
9. Devil In A New Dress - Kanye West
A great example of how a beat can define a song perfectly. Kanye's verses are amazing lyrically and fit the beat amazingly, Mike Dean's guitar is one of the best pieces I've ever heard and Rick Ross' verse is instantly recognizable and iconic.
8. i - Kendrick Lamar
A song that just makes me feel amazing. An amazing song that's incredibly inspirational.
7. Jethro - Thundercat
An amazingly well produced song from Thundercat's masterpiece "Drunk", the song is amazing in every way possible and doesn't drag at all and has the perfect length imo.
6. Reborn - Kids See Ghosts
Is there anything that needs to be said about "Reborn"? It's a purely amazing work that has so much emotion for me and so much significance for Kanye and Scott. A beautiful song with an amazing message. Keep moving forward.
5. Heard Em' Say - Kanye West
A song that both combines pure enjoyability and a message. This is Kanye with some of his lyrical best. To me it proves Kanye is one of the best, most underrated lyricists in rap.
4. Ghost Town - Kanye West
This is Kanye at his most vunerable in years. In "Ghost Town" he expresses that he's currently tied down by life but desires to be free. This is a deeply resonant message but it really hits home for me.
3. White Ferrari - Frank Ocean
One of the saddest, most well produced, sung and written songs ever. Just a pure piece of artistic genius.
2. Saint Pablo - Kanye West
Kanye's best lyricism (imo) ever mixed with amazing production and one of Kanye's best features makes for an excellent track that reminds me of how great Kanye is at composing a track.
1. Runaway - Kanye West
My favorite song ever. A beautiful portrait of self doubt, ego, and vunerabilty. Some of Kanye's best production with the instantly recognizable opening 'E' note, the amazing Pusha T feature, Kanye's flawed yet beautiful singing,
(1/2)
(2/2)
and the autotune infused outro builds up to an amazing summary of Kanye West. This is the perfect starting point and The Bottom Line for the case of Kanye West. This was my introduction to Kanye so it means a lot to me personally and I can relate to it heavily.
Its Perfect.
