It’s weird how there’s always a motif in female-led superhero movies (Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Dark Phoenix) about someone telling the lead she has to let go of her emoooootions. Because she’s too emooootional and it makes her weak.
Then in the climax she’s like NO! MY EMOTIONS ARE MY STRENGTH!!

And it’s supposed to be a big hero moment but like, did anybody ever tell Tony Stark or Bruce Wayne or Thor to learn to bury their emotions???

Those are some hysterical fuckers.
Like instead of just getting therapy Bruce uses his fortune to dress up like a bag and beat up the mob.

But HIS emotions aren’t getting in his way?

TONY BUILT ULTRON BECAUSE THE CHITAURI SCARED HIM.
But like, Jean Grey being confused at suddenly being a god is supposedly a problem.

Carol expressing basic confusion over amnesia is too emotional.

Diana not wanting to wipe out humanity is just too soft.
Just like... get a new plot, people.

The Holy Trinity of Girl Hero Plots:

1) Sterility/Breast cancer (always the repro organs; Jane Foster couldn’t have a brain tumor).
2) Rape/abusive partner.
3) So powerful, but these dang EMOTIONS!!!!
Like... women have trouble paying our rent like Peter Parker. We have parent issues like Tony. We struggle with our internal morality vs. the world’s morality like Steve.

WE GET SICK IN PLACES BESIDES OUR LADY PARTS.
But whatever, “I have nothing to prove to you”’is still a fucking rock star moment.
PS: This is a thing I think “Agent Carter” did really well.

She had to navigate life in a society that didn’t respect her, find a place to live, save the damn world, found a spy agency, and learn to trust people and maintain friendships.

Like a human.
