ICU availability in Southern California is at 0%! They just detected a novel strain of COVID currently only in CA! They're literally lifting air quality regulations in LA so they can burn more corpses!

And Newsom's response is to ease restrictions?! I feel like I'm going insane. https://twitter.com/mederiosbabb/status/1353566464242933760
Newsom has abandoned single-payer healthcare (his hallmark issue in 2018), stood on the sidelines as Uber waged war against labor through Prop. 22, and has failed in his response to COVID. Can't wait to vote against him in 2022.
How does Newsom think this is an appropriate course of action given this news from today? https://twitter.com/ktla/status/1353572997701885953
So many Angelenos are dying of this horrific disease that they're having to suspend air quality limits to speed up cremations. But according to Newsom apparently, now is the right time to ease restrictions! https://twitter.com/NarroVictor/status/1353541417461809153
New reports have found that the novel CAL.20C. strain is spreading like wildfire and powering the recent COVID surge in Los Angeles. Why does Newsom think *now* is a good time to start easing restrictions? https://twitter.com/BrennanSpiegel/status/1351637046159310848
This is a humanitarian catastrophe and Newsom has basically given up on trying to solve it. “Failed leadership” is putting it lightly.
I’m not going to “chill out” when air quality regulations are being suspended to speed up the cremation of corpses and a new strain is spreading like wildfire throughout Los Angeles. https://twitter.com/maaouad/status/1353580253256445952
Science, data, and public health will drive our decision making. Also, if the California Restaurant Association wants to ease restrictions on people congregating indoors even though doing so is necessary to stop the spread of COVID, well I guess we better ease restrictions then!
Newsom yielding to the demands of the CRA and right-wing saboteurs to try to thwart a recall attempt is not leadership, it's cowardice. California is facing a full-blown humanitarian crisis, and easing restrictions right now is a death sentence for so, *so* many people.
In 2022 we need to elect a progressive leader committed to competent public health administration and accomplishing the goals Newsom claimed to have supported on the 2018 campaign trail, namely (and especially relevant) single-payer healthcare.
It makes me livid to remember that Newsom, whose victory in 2018 was powered by nurses (the California Nurses Association endorsement, under the condition he'd push single-payer, was crucial), is completely abandoning healthcare workers when they're in dire need of support.
The further spikes in COVID cases that Newsom is allowing through eased restrictions is going to put so much more more stress on already-overworked healthcare workers. Again: This is not "progressive leadership". It's not "leadership" at all!
