white people can do the craziest most violent things in this country, and to much of the media, they're still bob and suzy from down the street.

meanwhile black and brown people who are just *living their lives* are viewed with suspicion for *no reason at all*.

i hate harping on this. i really do. but its like there are no people of color in america's newsrooms to say: "hey, um, does anyone see how this sounds?"

never.

ever.

either give everyone the benefit of the doubt or nobody the benefit of the doubt. but you simply can't keep always giving white people the benefit and the rest of us don't get it.
