Xenoblade Chronicles is what I consider to be a genuine work of art and one of the greatest games ever made, truly going against standard conventions in it’s genre
The characters, world, and story all are wonderfully vivid, not a single thing felt like a JRPG trope (thread)

Truly what I find special about the game is it’s message, wrapped in the fantasy setting is a game about life and learning to appreciate those around you without taking them for granted
As a person who has had friends come and go, this is something that spoke personally to me

The characters all feel distinct and lovable in some sort of way and leave a huge lasting impact on you, there’s not a single character I disliked from the main party and most of the game either.
Truly the bonds you create are what makes a cast in anything so memorable.

In addition the English dub has wonderful performances by various British soap stars that all bring so much life to the characters they voice and feel so genuine. The music is also incredible, done by various famous composers with not a single one falling flat.
In terms of the gameplay, the battle system feels very unique from most RPGs, all of the characters feel unique and fun to play as in their own respective ways and experimentation is encouraged. There’s really no right combination for your party which is great for accessibility.
While the game has a linear storyline, you’re also free to explore the rest of the world at your leasure if you’d like, the areas are wide, open, and have many secrets for you to find, all of them feel wonderfully crafted and it never feels dull exploring as a result.
But truly, it’s the characters, world, and story that make this game feel the most special to me and why it ended up resonating with me, all of them felt like very real people and are some of the most interesting and varied in a JRPG I found. It’s hard not to fall in love.
There’s a reason why people rallied to have the game release in North America, why people are still quoting lines and memes from the game to this day, and why people speak so fondly of this game, it’s truly a one-of-a-kind game that is very special in so many ways.
I find JRPGs very hard to recommend to people, but if there’s one I could recommend to just about anyone, it’s this game, as I find it’s appeal even goes outside of the standard demographic.
It’s a classic JRPG right up there with Final Fantasy 7, Earthbound, and Chrono Trigger.

I would highly recommend you play this game sometime in your life, it’s a wonderfully crafted, genuine experience that I find anyone could find some enjoyment out of, and I feel it’s a game that truly stands the test of time.
Thank you for reading this thread.
Thank you for reading this thread.
To close off I’d like to post the game’s ending theme, “Beyond the Sky”, a very beautiful song you may’ve heard before.
I once again thank you for reading this thread so much and I hope you liked reading how this game moved me.
