Is it fair to expect the government to help those who don't pay any taxes? Like never pay a single cent in taxes from their earnings a day in their lives?
See, that's one of the major parts of what is wrong with our entertainment industry. Most of the people who do the heavy lifting, they get paid per day or per week and no taxes come out of the little that they get.
The industry isn't regulated. There is not one single association or lobby group that represents entertainment. It's pretty much every man for themself. That's the hard truth.
The sector is cut throat and it's hard to get everyone to come together to find a solution that works.

If had our act together as an industry, had systems and guidelines, have an oversight body or association or something like that, we would be in a better position to ask the government for help.
We need the sector to reopen because it rough on all of us. No tours, no shows, no nothing. However, some Jamaicans have proven time and time again to be too irresponsible and as such, the government is willing to risk it.
For the protocols to work, we need our fellow citizens to be disciplined and the only time we really show how disciplined we can be is when we have a US Embassy appointment.
Also, I am not knocking the letter penned by the good gentleman. I understand his concerns wholeheartedly but, I don't think it's as black as white as that.
We're all feeling it.
