1) sorokin looked much more composed tonight. still shaky at times with those rebounds, but much clearer glimpses of why he has been so highly regarded. he was the best player in the game score metric tonight, which feels about right
2) losing beau is a big problem, if he is out, considering the isles have no scoring threats on their bottom two lines outside of pageau - who is a center. that puts a lot of pressure on bellows/wahlstrom, which is a tough spot to be in. maybe they can handle it, but it's a lot.
3) that also means johnston basically has to come out of the lineup. with a fourth line that's been ineffective so far, he is redundant and not helpful to maximizing pageau - which is *needed* if beau is out. their best bet is to put both kids in and see what happens.
4) that said, when the big guys don't score this team isn't gonna win much. that's true of every team, but the isles' top guys aren't as good as a lot of teams around the league. it's a compounding effect that puts more pressure on them. and getting shut out twice in five? oof.
5) finally, it's game 5. having two scoring clunkers in that time period sucks, but it's not necessarily indicative of what the rest of the season looks like. overall their game has been pretty cohesive, the only question is if there is enough scoring to back it up.
