The replies for this post (and similar ones) are full of conservatives moralposting about 'degeneracy', muh 'family values' and the evils of videos games etc without even addressing the economic realities of modern life. https://twitter.com/trad_revival/status/1353340059731304448
The boomer dream of buying a nice house (on one income), commuting to the city, marrying a nice girl who will look after children and keeping a family dog, didn't die with the boomers. It's just financially unfeasible for most.
I grew up in a commutable part of Oxfordshire countryside. Trains to London are frequent and journey time is < 1 hour. However the combined monthly cost of a season rail pass + parking ticket at station is over ÂŁ600. Don't forget the added costs of buying and running a car too.
For the typical first time homeowner (even those working perfectly respectable middle class jobs) this is an absurd amount of extra money to throw away each month and would be far better spent investing in a larger mortgage.
Thus the choice is simple. Remain in London and buy a small flat, or move out of the city completely and find a job elsewhere, taking a substantial pay cut, which might hinder ones ability to buy a house in a nice area.
When this is economic reality for so many, deanos living in soulless new build estates and soylent urban dwellers confined to city apartments seems perfectly understandable. Not to mention the fact that that buying these properties is virtually impossible without 2 incomes.
To live the 'boomer dream' as shown in the photo, one would have to earning levels of money only associated with the sort of jobs (magic circle firm lawyer, investment banking analyst) that are out of reach for the *vast* majority of young people.
Telling western man to 'retvrn' to an aesthetic lifestyle whilst supporting the branch of politics which has rendered it impossible and in fact made degenerate lifestyles appealing is the exact sort thick skilled bullshit I've come to expect from conservatives.
