First up, these nice reflections in the canal by the boat launch. The building is the @NorfolkBotanic visitor center
Next up, these fun wave clouds, as seen from the @NorfolkBotanic rose garden (which is currently cut back)
This tree has slowly been getting pinker over the last few weeks.
Marker says “Hybrid Taiwan Cherry”#
Prunus campanulata x
Rosacea (Rose Family)
…perhaps that’s why it’s planted near the rose garden

Came upon these daffodils—what, is it spring already?! #FlowerReport
At first I thought this was something in the holly family. But I don’t think so. Its structure is similar to aucuba, but no spots on the leaves
Do you know what it is?

There has been a lot of work along the canal near the NATO tower at @NorfolkBotanic. I love the reflection of the trellis over this bench. I can’t wait to see it with whatever it is they’re going to grow over it
I finally have a name for this great red-and-white camellia: Governor Mouton! “The original plant grew in the old home of Governor Mouton, Lafayette, Louisiana, USA and is believed to be a lost label plant from the 19th century” #FlowerReport https://internationalcamellia.org/international-camellia-register?state=b&camelliaId=7530
This camellia is great. Thousands of pale pink flowers set among gray-green leaves. Wonderful. #FlowerReport
This “Roi Leopold” camellia has a great deep pink color that turns purplish as it ages. Or because it’s cold—who knows?! #FlowerReport
The sun came out as we were leaving @NorfolkBotanic and lit up the trees with this fabulous golden light. I love how the trees have this dappled effect. Does this count as chiaroscuro? Anyway, end of thread. See you next time!
