I receive some thoughtful emails from readers, which I greatly appreciate. There are some that are ignorant of course.

Today, a person questioned why my story on student mental health was news and stated that they made it through school fine without mental health services
I don't know this reader or anything about their life, but maybe that's an issue. My answer was essentially "good for you." You didn't go to college in 2020 or during a pandemic. Your experience doesn't speak for them or those who need or want mental health services.
Also, for the students being vulnerable & sharing their personal perspectives with me on their experiences with mental health, I will tell you that's the opposite of what I want to read.

I sought therapy during grad school (and rlly should have in undergrad!), and it was great.
If you can make it through college without mental health services, and you are living your best life during and after college, good for you!

If you need therapy, if you need help, there should be no shame. Do what's best for YOU.
