So called Australia always has & always will be Aboriginal land. We shouldn’t be celebrating invasion day, a day of continuing mourning & genocide of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
Here’s a thread of some ways you can #PaytheRent & support if you’re low on cash:
Here’s a thread of some ways you can #PaytheRent & support if you’re low on cash:
Firstly #PaytheRent by a variety of means-whether that’s donating to orgs like @IndigenousLF @blakandbright @blkrnbow, supporting Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islander led projects/orgs like @IndigenousXLtd @IndigiconA or buying these #LoveOzYa books! They’re all fantastic

Not to mention the myriad or other amazing works by Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders that can be found at @MagabalaBooks!
Secondly- you can show up to your local Invasion Day Rallies if you aren’t immune compromised or showing symptoms of that ole COVID, be safe wear a mask!

In fact- maybe grab a mask from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait designer or artist! Like @DarkiesDesign! Also check out @/ngarrimili, @/tradingblak and @/blakbusiness on ig for more works created and owned by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creatives!
Thirdly lend your voice and privilege (especially white privilege) to enact change, Some ideas include contacting your local MP to demand they take action to support Treaty, that major independent inquiry is enacted into the incarceration rates of Aboriginal people esp and
Bla(c)k deaths in custody. Donate if you can to the Free Her Campaign which pays the court fees of Aboriginal women incarcerated in WA https://www.gofundme.com/f/bfvnvt-freethepeople with all these action- every little bit counts.
Check out and help support the incredible work being done by @DeadlyScience! https://deadlyscience.icu/ or Purple House http://www.purplehouse.org.au/
Lastly - share resources created by & for Bla(c)k people. Amplify Bla(c)k voices. challenge your racist familiar members & friends, check in on your Aboriginal friends, colleagues & listen to & centre First Nation voices & knowledge.
Don’t just do these things on Invasion Day/ the lead up, genuinely show up and fight against the colonisation and oppression many of us have and still continue to benefit from.
Australia always has and always will be Aboriginal land- it’s time more of us started acting like it
