So I had a very visceral reaction to the end of the latest episode of #SVU22
and after sitting with it for a few days and a rewatch I want to share why. The convo between Liv and Rita really encompasses everything the episode was trying to highlight but really gut punches you.

The final line âlie back and pretend like you like itâ hits harder because itâs coming from Rita, a woman going along with the status quo of the patriarchy while Olivia has made it her lifeâs work to challenge it. And with this exchange I was reminded of things in my life now
Iâm an assistant manager for an industrial cleaning company, and after years of dealing with my direct managerâs overt sexism, racism and classism, I lost my temper with him. Once. Almost 9 months ago. And he decided because of that one incident in his mind I wasnât fit to manage
Our working relationship deteriorated to the point of him being openly hostile a few months later because I reported him for leaving work early on multiple occasions without permission. At that time I formally requested a transfer. That was almost 5 months ago.
I felt that line because so many people (not just women) work to earn power and then are forced to deal with toxic environments because thatâs part of the job, because holding responsibility in the workplace requires you to put the company before your well being
Itâs a âlie back and pretend that you like itâ mentality. And itâs BS. But it canât be addressed without recognizing what it is. So I would like to truly thank @warrenleightTV and the #SVU
crew for bringing reality like this to the forefront. Thank you for making me feel seen.
