I fail to grasp this rhetoric that the government favours any specific ethnic group especially not the Fulani herdsmen. If this is truly a Fulani favouring government, their social welfare would improve, if anything we have only seen a deterioration of every group’s welfare
In fact, the current state of Nigeria reflect a descent into anarchy than anything else. Different forces from different groups have ventured into criminality and the government does not even begin to have a hold on ANY of it. That’s not the same as favouring anyone.
Incapacity to provide security and secure livelihoods from the terrors of any group does not equal government’s positioning of unequally treating one group above the other. We have seen how almost every group has been at the receiving end of violence over the past few years;
Elections violence, community/herder clashes, armed banditry, insurgency, criminality (kidnappings, armed robbery), Govt sponsored thuggery, every community has found itself at the receiving end of one or the other of this uncapped rampage of violence.
It almost seems like the hunger games; only the most violent groups are able to thrive in their violence because they’re able to force government’s hand to the table, and if they’re not in a collective, they reign terror in their fragmentation.
