People can jabber about whether an octogenarian may be slowing down. Duh. Of course. But let's also bear witness to the story of how a ground and glass-ceiling-breaking attorney, mayor (during some of the toughest days SF has seen) and Senator....
personally tried to save a great California employer and company. And when she didn't succeed sent a handwritten note to express chagrin more wasn't done in a toxic Capitol Hill that had little interest in helping local journalists who - at times - take on politicians directly ..
So. The world - and McClatchy journalists and pensioners especially - should be aware and take a moment and bear this in mind about this exceptional career and legislator. (ends)
