can white trans ppl stop trying to shield themselves from accountability when they've harmed BIPOC for years with their racism, just cuz they're trans? sincerely a brown Native trans man.

nobody is trying to ruin anyone, we just want damn accountability for your past racist actions. we want you to recognize your harm in the past and be clear that you will listen to BIPOC and give reparations for the harm you've caused in the past.

cuz if y'all are going to be in our spaces, you need to recognize your harmful past if you were actively racist for years. people are allowed to be aware of your harmful pasts cuz it helps keep us BIPOC safe.

this doesn't mean going around and gloating "yeah i was racist once haha it was just a phase :)" it's recognizing your harm in a respectful way and letting folks know how you'll move forward to help heal that harm from the past. reparations are direct action.

again, actions will always speak louder then words. repeating shit bipoc teach you online and rting isn't enough action. you need to donate, actively unlearn your whiteness, stand up against racism, help BIPOC communities near you, etc.. there's so much you can be doing.

and just saying "im no longer racist" isn't enough either. cuz we know you prob still harboring whiteness and it's a lot to unlearn. you don't unlearn racism and whiteness in under 5 years, i do not trust that at all as a BIPOC. whiteness surrounds us everyday.

esp as a white person, u need to ACTIVELY deconstruct that white mind. you don't experience racism, you don't know what it'll always look like and you won't know if you are acting insensitive to a BIPOC. even my white friends make me uncomfortable cuz they live thru a white lens.

so when we say listen to BIPOC, we MEAN it. you NEED to listen to us if you want to be a better ally. blocking all BIPOC or deflecting us and calling us abusive for trying to hold y'all accountable isn't listening, and is causing more harm.

and deflecting with "im trans and a minority too" is also harmful! you are purposefully being inconsiderate of the hundreds of years of injustices we BIPOC have faced and continue to face. YALL STILL HAVE WHITE PRIVILEGE. YALL ARE STILL TALKING OVER US AND ERASING OUR STRUGGLES.
