Lots to digest from the man who led Oxford jab team Prof Sir John Bell: he tells me South African/Brazil #covid variants are a “big problem” bc “changes are pretty profound” BUT says vaccine manufacturers know “if we’re going to make new vaccine we need to get our skates on”

Decision on new jab within weeks but modified vaccine would be available to people in UK by Autumn. In meantime he urges ministers to be “very tight” on borders. Asked if the virus could outwit the jabs entirely he said “we’re smarter than the virus”

BUT need to up pace of #covid treatments rather than focusing entirely on vaccines. I’ll post the full @Channel4News interview shortly.
