I'm hesitant to elevate outright lies, but each of these issues deserves a thorough rebuttal. Local politics is even harder to follow than national politics, so it's much easier for outright lies to take hold. https://twitter.com/DeanPreston/status/1353222138572926976
For a moment, let's assume for a minute that by "pro-housing" Dean only means organized YIMBYs (something that isn't true). There are many pro-housing people who might not identify as YIMBYs, but I'll speak for YIMBY in this thread.
YIMBYs do not oppose inclusionary housing policies.
They ask that these policies *actually work* and pass feasibility studies to ensure inclusionary policies actually result in housing.
Asking that a policy WORK AS INTENDED is not the same as opposing it.

YIMBYs want transit to be fully funded, and are frankly transit NUTS.
In some cases do we believe that the revenue should come from stable things like property taxes rather than impact fees? Sure. But there is a ton of nuance here @DeanPreston is willfully ignoring.

YIMBYs have REPEATEDLY joined various calls for expanding rent control and tenants protections.
Do some folks want us to go even further? Sure, and it's a reasonable ask. But to characterize YIMBYs as working to roll back rent control is a lie.

Are there other things Dean brought up in his screed that need rebutting? When an elected official openly lies about our positions, YIMBYs need to push back.
