@RosieBarton @CBCNews today had the honor to advocate for #paidsickdays to Labor Minister @MonteMcNaughton. His response: federal 10 day benefit referring to CRSB which is not same as paid sick days.Thread on why CRSB & increasing inspections is not enough to protect workers 1/5
CRSB does not allow workers, particularly temp workers, to get tested/isolate. It is not single day paid leave, only available if unable to work at least 50% of work week and can only apply after week is over. Its less than 500$ which falls way below min wage @fairwagesnow 2/5
CRSB & workplace inspections do not assure protection. Workers, particularly temp workers, continue to worry about their job loss when getting tested or isolating when exposed or symptomatic @BramptonCovid 3/5
Workers deserve basic employment benefits & workplace protections such as employment contract, job security, paid sick days, health insurance benefits. Businesses need to pause performance tracking & support instead of reprimand workers during such tough times @DecentWorkHlth 4/5
Coalition of health care & social service organizations
@OntariosDoctors @rnao @iphcc_ca @OCSAtweets @AllianceON @NPAOntario @NPLCA1 @afhto @OntarioCollege sent a letter to premier of Ontario to urgently implement paid sick days for workers #PaidSickDaysSaveLives 5/5
